    Hello, I moved my wordpress to another server and now all the comments are coming from same IP address, 172.16.10.1

    This is a special purpose IP adress but no Idea why this is happening. I am hosted with Mosso which has firewalls installed. Please let me know a solution.

    This is Roland from Mosso and I can help with this issue. The problem comes from the code not knowing that it is now on a Clustered hosting solution. To fix the ip issue do a search in your all of your wordpress files for this snippet of code:

    $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];

    Replace it with this code:

    $_SERVER['HTTP_X_CLUSTER_CLIENT_IP'];

    This code swap will allow the wordpress script to obtain the correct IP address of your commentors.

    Come into live chat for help if you run into any snags along the line.

    Mosso-Roland,

    Could you please point/me us to a page that lists all the Mosso quirks that WordPress people should know about. I am about to bring quite a few WP sites over to a Mosso account and I need to know all these things AHEAD of time!

    I've written a plugin that should fix this problem.

    You can download it here:
    http://www.bluetrait.com/files/wordpress-plugins/http_x_cluster_client_ip.zip

    Let me know if it works for you.

    Thanks.

    P.S That is the first plugin I've written :)

    alicam - the biggest thing is the ip address. Another thing to remember is that with wp-cache you can't use symbolic links - I wrote how to get around that here:

    http://www.articlesnatch.com/blog/2007/07/30/speed-up-wordpress-with-caching-on-a-cluster/

    Thats the biggest quirk I have found while hosting blogs on mosso.
