I've created my first WordPress 1.2 plugin:
http://www.skippy.net/wp_test/index.php
When activated, this comment will send email the commenter with a unique link. Visiting that link will authorize the comment for immediate posting. It's not a perfect solution to comment spam, and it's certainly rough around the edges, but it's working well enough to share.

Plugin installation is a breeze and works flawlessly for me. For anyone running the 1.2 nightly's, you should give it a try.

I tried this and got the email but clicking on the link just gave me a blank page. Good idea though.

Does the link authorize future posts, as in is it a one-time check, or a check each time?

I was just thinking about what a good idea this would be as I opened the support forum. Nice work and thanks.

I'm having difficulty getting this to work. I didn't change a thing in both files. Would the fact that readers go to a redirect page after they've mad a comment have anything to do with it, or that I've renemed my wp-comments.php?

Thanks.
