I want to create a sort of comic book layout like this or this. Each panel will contain linked images or text.
I assume the best way to do it is with css floats. It's a bit confusing, so I want to make sure I am doing the right method.
Anybody have a solid recommendation for the best method to achieve it?

I don't really understand what you are trying to accomplish: Are you trying to publish your own comic online or do you want your blog/site to look like a comic book?
If it's the first case, there are some plugins and themes for that. If it's the second case, I suggest that you look for a theme instead of making it yourself from scratch.
