Combine Comments and Reactions in one count

I have searched far and wide without anyone having looked into this one little thing I’d like to do.

I am pulling numbers to my front page for comment count without issue, but I get more reactions than I do actual comments on the site. What I would like to do is combine those two counts into one simple number on the front page.

http://www.fortheloveofpunk.com is my page and you’ll see the “orange” number I’m referring to on the front page.

Any ideas would be really helpful and thank you in advance!
