Been trying to move my wordpress.com site to wordpress.org for a week now and can't seem to find the missing piece of my puzzle anywhere in the forums...

Basically, I have my .com site. I have my http://www.domain. I have hosting via dreamhost. I have exported and then imported back via my www but just seem to be going round in a .com circle as it still says .com on my site page. Do I need to delete my .com site after export and then install it from scratch and import?

Try updating your domain's nameservers to point to your new self-hosted site.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that last week. I pointed my domain site name servers at Dreamhost and my site went down. I contacted Dreamhost who told me to point the name servers back at wordpress and it came back up.

Or when you say point at my new self-hosted site I should have pointed the domain nameservers at http://www.bathshortstoryaward.co.uk rather than at Dreamhost?

No - you need to point the domain name to your new site - which I assume is hosted with Dreamhost. Bear in mind that this change will take 48 - 72 hours to propagate fully during which time your site will not be accessible.

Thanks for asking, yes, it is! I am having a glass of fizz to celebrate and admiring how fantastic it all looks. So happy!
