Columns in Yoko

I’m new to WordPress and am creating a website for my freelance writing business. I have a page with several subpages for my portfolio and am considering setting at least one or two up in two or three-column format, with the columns being of equal width. The columns would contain links to published articles and the text of the first paragraphs. I thought that each column could have just a few links and that spreading them across the page would look better than one long, narrow column. Although Yoko is described as a three-column format, I gather that to do what I have in mind would require some tinkering. I know NOTHING about coding. Can I add a column plug-in to override Yoko’s formatting?
