    Hi Tobias,

This may totally be user error, but I can't seem to get the colspan function to work. I have a 3 column table and I want to make a table heading that spans the 3 cols at the top.

Here's how I have it in the backend

And here it is in the page preview.

I've also tried using the instructions that say to "click into the cell to the right of the cell that has the content the combined cells shall have" but I still can't get the colspan to take.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi,

this is odd, I don't see why this happens...

I just checked again with a similar example and it works fine there.

Can you maybe post the URL to the page with the table, so that I can take a look at the HTML source?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi Tobias,

Thanks for the rapid reply! Here's a link to the published page.

This site is using a modified version of the 2010 theme, but I also tried the page with the out-of-the-box 2010 theme and got the same result.

    Thanks again!

    Hi,

thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it is not working for me, the server jade.keene.edu can not be reached. Are you sure that the URL is correct?

    Regards,
    Tobias

Ok, it's a problem on my end.

That page I sent you is on a server that is behind a proxy. So I installed the plugin on a different server that's publicly facing and it works just fine now.

Not sure why it's not working on the proxy, but I will look into it and post what I find here.

My apologies for wasting your time! This is a fantastic plugin. Thanks again for your help!

    Hi,

ok, thanks for checking that. That is really odd then. I have no idea why it does not work on that server...

As a start, I suggest that you deactivate all other plugins. Maybe one of them is changing the table content somehow.
Also, are you using the latest versions of WordPress and the plugin?
Is there maybe some sort of caching activated?

    Regards,
    Tobias

Ok, this is embarrassing. Here's what I did.

When I was trying to get it to work, I copied #colspan# from the Add colspan help pop-up box and pasted it into the table. What I didn't realize was that when I did my copy, I picked up an extra chunk of whitespace after the closing hash, so I had this:

    '#colspan# '

    ...instead of this:

    '#colspan#'

So this was all a big 'DUH' on my part. But, at least people can keep in mind to make sure there's no whitespace in #colspan#.

Thanks again for your help and this great tool.

    :)

    Hi,

ah, yes, that's indeed a possible reason for this! Great that you found it! :-)

    Regards,
    Tobias
