color fonts using Rich Text Editor (8 posts)

    I'm using WordPress 2.0.4.
I was wondering if there's a direct way to change the color of specific text while using rich text format.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
(Or is it time for me to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress??)

I believe you have to use code in the latest version to do color. This can be done through the style sheet or by through the code window on the post. I believe there are a couple of plugins that may do this (although the one I'm specifically thinking about costs money).

Do you know how to change font color in the code window?

    blepoxp, thanks for the response.

If by code window you mean the simple html text editor (or the html window that pops up in rich text editor), then yes, I do know how to change text color. If that's not what you mean, then I'd say I don't know.

I was just wondering if there was a quicker way than having to go through the html process. My e-mail server, for instance, has a "color square" on top of the text window.

I can click on it, and choose the color I want for either the text or the background. The hmtl code is entered automatically.

Does the 2.1.? WordPress offer something along those lines?

2.1 offers Bold, Italic, Strike through, bullets, numbers, tabbing, alignment, hyperlink, image insert, excerpt break, and spell check.

I'm pretty sure the only changes were the addition of the spell check and moving the code button to a tab.

Well, that's too bad. But thanks for the response.
    Perhaps in the WP 2.2??

Not to pimp my own stuff... but check this plugin out: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/visualize-advanced-features/

Check the screenshots, look at the lower row.

    No way!
How was I missing this! I'm going to make a lot of people very happy tomorrow. Our only lament about using WP in an environment ruled by MS Word was having to clean up after staff who copy and paste from MS to wordpress. You just made my day HandySolo! BTW, the site I'm talking about is the president's blog at our educational institution.

edit: I'm obviously talking about the paste from MS feature rather than the color selection.

I am relatively new to WP blogs, but I had switched to one thinking that my blog would look nicer than my old one on Typepad called Pentimento.

I was very disappointed to see that WP didn't have colors for text like Typepad. So, finding this plugin was fantastic. Thank you so much!
