Is there a way to access your wordpress blog AFTER the domain has been cancelled?
I am trying to move all the posts to another website but need to close the domain down. Is this possible?

set the blog up on another domain. there is a move your blog process you must follow.
If you don't want it public but just want it available for your own reference consider setting it up in a subdomain of the other domain, exclude it from search engines, and password protect access to it.

We aren't moving WordPress We are just moving all of our posts to another site that does use wordpress. I don't mind moving all the posts by hand but I just want to make sure once I cancel the domain I can still access the posts since the login is [domain]wp-login.com
Export the posts from the old blog and import them into the new blog via Admin/Tools.
I'm not using a WordPress Blog. We are using our own website, none blog related.
Oh - sorry. I misunderstood. So which is the WP install - the old or the new site?
the old site. it has posts back from 2005 and we are merging all our blogs onto one site. We have already canceled other domains but this blog has TONS of post we need to get. But the new site is our own creation therefore the XML coding wouldn't work in it.
How about installing WP on a local machine somewhere and then exporting the posts from the old blog to the local install? That would allow you to keep a working copy offline.
that's not a bad idea either! Just for the sake of saving all posts! Let me try that out
well I went to try that, I downloaded the xml file and tried to upload it and I got an error saying that it was an invalid format. But I didn't change anything
Which of the import options did you try in Admin/Tools? You need to use the WordPress option to import the old blog's content into the new local blog. Also, what version of WP is the old blog using? You may need to match the version in the local install.
