[resolved] Client Portal Idea (8 posts)

I'm still new to PHP and was wondering if anyone could share any ideas or enlightenment to what I would love to have on my site.

I have a PC repair business and I would love to have an area where clients could login and get the following information.

    • Section to make a payment (using PayPal)
    • A section to download any documents/media
    • A place to pull up quotes
    • Edit Contact Information
    • Anything else that might be pertinant...

I'm hoping someone might have already made a plugin similar to this or that someone could shed some light on what I would really need to get this fully up and running.

    Thanks in advance.

Do these need to be client specific pages or just general pages to all clients?

I would like them to be client specific based on their login to the site.

I've looked for something like this for a while but have yet to find a simple solution using WP. Here are two posts that may help, but they are far from a perfect solution.

I have found other options they may work better than WP anyway, like this:

ps- how come this is marked "resolved"?

@dtmp DUDE! That is EXACTLY what I was looking for on a possible project I have coming up for an event planning company website!

@maddtechWF The link I have above is an AMAZING deal for only $20. Trust me, there are NO other free alternatives out there and as cheap as this one is it might as well be free! Let me know if you would like some assistance getting this setup as I have very affordable rates on WP sites. :)

I posted this on a similar thread...

Here's another method I discovered to add to the list of options, this one uses S2member plugin: (bonus: there's even a video tutorial on how to set it up!)
It appears to be a lot easier than other methods and provides page protection.

@dtmp One thing I realized that the Advanced Client Portal doesn't have is a calendar system. Can S2Member utilize a calendar for each client?

Going the S2member route requires much more set up than Advanced Client Portal which is pretty much ready to go out of the box. Using S2member only gives you the structure for setting up separate pages for each client. You have to do the set up to get your items for each client to post correctly, by using categories and such. Not sure what kind of calendar system you had in mind, but you have access to all the WP calendar widgets and plugins that are available.

In playing around with S2member, it still required a bit of page layout and setup which is something I was trying to streamline. I already accomplish most of this with my current client portal system which is just based on an html page I edit each time and add links.

The biggest benefit of S2member is the way it consolidates all the convoluted ways that people were trying to accomplish having an individual and private landing page for each log-in.
