    clickin on media section in admin causes these errors?

    You have a faulty plugin. Try installing the Hotfix plugin:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/hotfix/

    Then try re-uploading all files & folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    what folders need cmod 777, 755 etc?

    Just use 755 for now.

    Leave all folders at 755.

    same 2 errors on fresh install.. whats happening here?

    I am having the exact same issue on several different installs/sites/hosts. It started after one of the more recent WP updates, unfortunately I am not sure exactly when.

    Can someone please help pinpoint the culprit? Much appreciated!

    using 755 can solve this .
