I use the Church Theme and the Theme Options for the main window aren’t updating. The top two fields and the bottom field aren’t updating when I change the category that i’ve selected.

Has anyone had the same issue? Fixes?

    Thanks!

Where did you get the Church Theme? I don’t recognize it as being from the repository…

From a colleague…www.byulacrosse.com…we simply copied their site and change some of the images…we’re http://www.byurugby.com

Right, but where did the Lacrosse organization get the Theme?

(This is one of those questions that is nearly impossible to answer without having the Theme template files. The only “church” Themes of which I’m aware are commercial Themes, which means that we’ll be out of luck in trying to help.)

… commercial? why is it so easy to download it for free on internet? Just try to look for “wp free theme” on google and u will find it!How much is it?

Okay, so I’ll ask again (because beware Google searches for “free wp theme”; the results are the Mos Eisley cantina of WordPress Themes: a wretched hive of scum and villainy that I have no wish to peruse): what is the exact name of the Theme, and where exactly did you (or the Lacrosse site) get it?

It’s a studiopress theme…does that answer your question? I’ve posted on their website and had no response.

    (@chipbennett)

Ah, yeah; that does answer the question.

I’m afraid that we won’t be able to be of much help. (Even if I were to grab a “free” version of the Theme – which I won’t – there’s no guarantee that a “free” version obtained from some unscrupulous site will be the same as, or even current with, what’s available from StudioPress.)

ok Chip i can think about to buy the Theme; but as u say there is (or were) a “free” version of the Theme and it’s still on the web, i can undestand if u won’t help us about some thechnical problem, but i don’t undestand why the “free version” don’t work correctly as it did at the begin, i spent lot of time to set the demo of my project and now i descover that i have pay for something that was for free (was a mistake of studiopress?) .. all this is strange for me, but i can undestand your point of view: nobody wont work for free!

    Chip Bennett

    (@chipbennett)

@lucaweb: StudioPress Themes are GPL, which means that they can be freely modified and redistributed; however, such Themes are often targets for unscrupulous persons who make “modifications” such as SEO/spam links, or adding malicious code. It’s mainly for that reason that I hesitate even to download a Theme found through a “free wp Themes” Google search.

As for the support, though: it’s mainly a matter of principle. StudioPress offers paid support for their Themes (which is perfectly acceptable); most here will generally only offer free support for free Themes, since otherwise we’d be doing gratis what another developer gets paid to do.

The other issue, as I mentioned earlier, is that, with paid Themes, we can’t get access to known-good Theme files without paying to download the Theme. With the unscrupulous people mentioned above, it is not merely possible, but rather extremely likely, that the “free” versions of the Theme are obsolete at best, and maliciously modified at worst.

All of this is a long-winded way to say: your best option is likely to pay for the Theme from StudioPress, which will give you access to their Theme support. From everything I’ve heard, StudioPress Themes are great, as is their support. So, it would only be to your advantage to go this route.
