    I am some what of a beginner at working with css. But I have been able to create Child themes before and for them to work fine. The problem i am having is strange I am trying to import the parent theme's style.css and it is not registering. All the post/ blogs/ documentation for working with child themes indicate that the import rule has to be the first thing other then the text written between /* and */ as this part is ignored by browsers, since everything between /* and */ is a comment in CSS syntax.

    I need help if any one can assist me I would be grateful.

    the Child theme is written as such :

    *\
    Theme Name: Dear Diary Child Theme
    Theme URI:      http: //example.com/
    Description: Child theme for the Dear Diary theme
    Author:         Mary Sharp
    Author URI:     http: //example.com/about/
    Template:       dear-diary
    Version:        0.1
    */

    @import url("../dear-diary/style.css");
