Child Theme/Parent Theme Problem (4 posts)

I heard that you can take the .php files from the parent theme and place them in the child theme folder and it will override the same files in the parent theme. I did that, but there were a bunch of errors. So, I deleted all of those files from the child theme and refreshed my site. Everything is okay but the formatting is off? And that is after I reverted back...

    Any ideas?

Correct. The exceptions are the functions.php file (which must never be copied into the child theme) and the style.css file (which must first @import the parent's stylesheet).

Does your child theme include a style.css file with the appropriate @import?

    yeah it does.

So I copied the functions.php into the child theme and when it didn't work, I took it out with everything else I had copied in. So is that what messed it up?

I thought by deleting the files from the child theme, that I had just put in, then everything would be back to normal. Guess not...
