Child Theme not allowed?

    I am using the free version of ISIS. I tried to create a child them and it wasn’t working properly. When I deleted the child theme from within the WP dashboard, a screen came up that said “Cheating?”

    So, am I to assume that creating a child theme is cheating? I have to purchase the pro edition to make any changes myself to the css or php files?
