• Hi,

In order to use php, I had to create a new child theme. I did these steps:
    1. Activate Customizr original theme
    2. Download the child theme folder from http://www.themesandco.com/extension/customizr-child-theme/
    and add it to FTP.
I also install file manager plugin, just to double check if files are updated.

However, I couldn’t make any changes with code that I add to function.php, for example: center heading, logo, tagline… Please tell me what did I do wrong?
I’m a newbie. My site: http://capturedesign.pro. Thank you!

  • I think that maybe the FTP step was the wrong one. Where did you put the files?

I think you need to install it by uploading it in your WordPress dashboard using Appearance > Themes > Add new > Upload. Make sure to upload the full .zip file to WordPress — it won’t upload properly if you try to upload the unzipped files.

@nikeo: Could you add these instructions to the child theme’s page if they’re correct?

Thanks a lot!!! You know what, in the instruction to install the file that I have downloaded, Nicolas said that:

“In order to utilize any of your extensions, you’ll need to first install and activate them. The process is just like installing a normal plugin.

In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New.

From there you’ll see an option for “Upload”. Click the “Browse” button, navigate your computer files and select the .ZIP file for your downloaded extension.

Note : the Child Theme has to be installed in Appearance > themes > Add New”

=> I didn’t read the “Note” line, I thought I have to add new (the zip file) in Plugins, that’s why I was struggling and use FTP instead, and continue struggling for hours. Now I got it!! I should have asked you earlier, would save a lot a time for me :((
