Child Sites /wp-admin Taking Me to Child Site Index Page?! (14 posts)

Yeah, this just started happening a few minutes ago. I had deactivated all plugins to try and solve an issue with one plugin (didn't help), and have reactivated everything, but now I can't get into any child site dashboards. Really need quick help, please!

  2. Did you flush your browser cache (and any caching plugins you have installed)?

Yes, just flushed the cache, and I have never had any caching plugins.

Also, I have 2 themes available to child sites. Stylesheets seem to be loading on sites using one theme, but not the other. WTF!!!

OK, it seems to be related to the second theme (the one whose stylesheet isn't loading). I can get into the dashboards of the sites using the first theme. Still, though...WTF!!

Have also found that ANY URL/link to an image, single post, page, etc. on a child site just brings up the child site's index page on this one theme. It wasn't doing this an hour ago, but I'm not sure what plugins being deactivated/reactivated could have caused the problem (I de/reactivated 17 network activated plugins, listed below...all are current):

    Auto Post Thumbnail
    BuddyPress
    BuddyPress Group Email Subscription
    Custom Field Template
    Duplicate Post
    Edit Category Slug
    Exclude Pages from Navigation
    Featured Content Showcase
    Regenerate Thumbnails
    Restrict Multisite Plugins
    Restrict Multisite Widgets
    Search Tags
    Sitewide Tag Suggestion
    WordPress MU Sitewide Tags Pages
    WPMU Custom CSS

  6. Check error/access logs as well too. Things "just happening" have some actual cause. ;)

Just looked on my hosting account's cpanel for those things. Error log is coming up blank, and the file that downloads for the raw access log won't even open on my computer :/

I'm totally stuck. If I can't figure this out soon (like, by tomorrow), I'm going to have to delete the problem theme, which several of my child site admins are currently using.

  8. turn on debug but have it write to a file instead of the screen. let it run for maybe 15 minutes, then turn it off again and have a read.

Attempting the error log thing now. Does this not sound like an .htaccess redirect issue to anyone? I haven't touched the .htaccess file, so IDK, but the child sites using one specific theme being redirected to their own index pages seems like it could have something to do with that stuff...

Couldn't get the error log thing to print to any file (yes, I did change the URL/path stuff in the examples in the codex). I did find out that it was apparently only 2 sites of my own that were redirecting to their index pages. One was for testing purposes and one was recently created so that I could sell a few of my crocheted creations, so I just deleted them both. I replicated a fresh new site and activated the oddly problematic theme on it, and everything seems to be hunky dory (I even "gave" it to my test user and logged in as him to check things out).

Now my only issue is the checkout on my main site not working, so no one can buy their shop hosting. Thanks guys, heading over to the Plugins forum, I guess *sigh*

  11. resave the permalinks on those sites?

Ah, that would have been a great idea. I deleted the 2 sites that seemed to be having issues, though. If another pops up, I will try that first!

And OT, but oddly enough, got through checkout on my main site just fine on my iPad. Not sure why the heck it does not want to work in any browser on my desktop PC!

  13. Chrome can be an utter brat and NOT flush the cache locally at all.

Meh, I'm trying to get ready for vacation, so I'm calling it a fluke, since it seems to work on the sites that exist now. No big deal, and at least I have some leads to try if it should happen again :)
