That message is purely a server issue, and while that process could possibly be running something WordPress-related, having an fault like that is something that’s gone wrong in the server software. This is the sort of thing that only your hosting company can help out with.
This happened to me today when I upgraded to WordPress 4.0.

Chrome displays the error:
Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
Error code: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE
While the apache error.log says it’s the Segmentation fault (11).
Older WordPress installs on 3.9.x version work fine, all other web apps also work fine, so it’s definitely something to do with WordPress 4.0. Any advice where to start looking?

Again… It’s a server fault, so you have to look at your servers logs to find out what the real problem is.
You did link to that other post which you say is not the problem, but just because that isn’t the problem doesn’t mean that something else that’s interacting with the server isn’t having issues. That could and would happen with any PHP-based system on the server, not just WordPress. And remember that just because 3.9 works, and 4.0 has an error, it doesn’t mean that it’s WordPress if there’s a configuration or software issue on the server. Sure, it could be something WordPress-related, but I do believe that it’s still something on the server that’s the root cause of the problem.
This is why you need to talk to your hosting company. They can access the servers logs correctly and see what the actual problem is. Unless you can do that, you’ll never find out what is actually happening.

We’re not the only ones having this problem while uploading pictures. I have other web apps hosted in the same server, and I uploaded bigger images than the ones I’m trying to upload to WordPress, and WordPress is the only one causing problems.
I had the DevOps team in my place of work take a closer look at the logs, and the server configuration and all of them concluded that it’s very likely that is a WordPress issue not a server one.
@ac123 – Uploading images has absolutely nothing to do with the problem as described so far and the post that you linked to bares no resemblance to this problem whatsoever. If you need assistance on that issue please open your own thread.
I just fixed my connection reset problem by changing the theme. It seems a bit old and unsupported theme was causing this problem. After spending hours trying to figure out what was wrong with my server.. :-p

You still haven’t told us what the actual cause of the error was. Saying an “unsupported theme” really doesn’t tell us anything at all, and if there is a fault with what WordPress is doing it’s impossible to work it out from that sort of vague information.
