Checkout page user registration/login issue

Hello! I am having an issue on my checkout page. I would like for users to have to create an account before they can checkout but there is nowhere for the user to login OR create an account. There is only a login box. I would like for users to be able to register here too – is this an option? If so how do I enable this and if not, how do I create a place for them to register before getting to this point? I am also wondering if there is a way to include say a checkbox for them to subscribe to updates/feed at this point if they register or is this automatic?

In the checkout editor I have the option for “See Login Option” marked but even when I tried the two other options it still does not behave correctly. You only see the text “User registration is required. Please, log in or register.” and there is no place or link to register.
