Hi two questions:

(1) Is there a chat room plugin for WP?

(2) If not .. Do you know of any chat room software that you can install on a website that is not java based?

1. Right now I think the closest you’ll come are those like jalenack’s AJAX Shoutbox:

well, a year later, I am gonna noob up and ask the original posters question again. Are there any chatrooms for wordpress yet? Just curious. I do use Jalenacks shoutbox, but I would like to see a chatroom plugin for wordpress. that would be phenomenal.

I doubt it. The place to look is Plugins and links therefrom, or search in google for “wordpress chat plugin”.
