How can one limit the amount of characters in a field just for the excerpt listing? For example, we have a field called short description only shown in excerpt. We need to limit the characters in this text area because some listers post a huge description there. On the lister’s own detail page it doesn’t matter. We need to limit it only in the excerpt. Can you tell me how to do this? Can I do this manually in a php file? If so, which php file do I access???

Hi Leontine,

Please don’t double-post requests here.

The long description and title fields are the only ones we restrict in terms of characters right now. We can consider adding this for future releases though. In the meantime, you’d have to hack this in the plugin yourself.

Sorry about that, but when I saw that this topic had the Resolved mark, I assumed it wouldn’t be looked at anymore. I’ll know better next time, thanks!
BTW, I think it is more important to have character limitations not he excerpt than on the list page because you can see what happened on our website!
