[resolved] Character encoding and MySQL (4 posts)

Recently I moved my blog to a different server and to a new version of MySQL. While migrating, I dumped the whole database and restored it in the new server. After setting up the blog in the new server, I am getting some problems with character encoding in the new blog. Eg I am getting the following (Nov – 3rd – 2007) instead of (Nov - 3rd - 2007)

I am not sure whether it is a problem with the character encoding in WordPress or with MySQL. Can any one let me know the reason for this. Thanks!

    Anyone?

I've tried reading about character encoding, but if there's a cookbook solution to how to set the database and the character encoding in WordPress to minimize funky characters in the posts and the feeds, I'd appreciate it. I, too, am seeing odd characters appear after migrating the database. What are the key areas to watch out for?

I solved this issue in my blog. It was due to wrong character set in my MySQL database. I have explained the steps I took to solve the problem in my blog at http://sudarmuthu.com/blog/2007/12/18/wordpress-and-mysql-character-encoding.html
