[resolved] Changing values in »seitenweise blättern« (7 posts)

    Hi,

    #1 I've tried to change the values in the dropdown menu »seitenweise blättern«. I dont want to show 10, 25, 50 etc. - but 50, 150, 300 ...

I've tried to change the jquery.datatables.min.js, but it doesn't work.

#2 How many entries as you can see on http://www.brandenfeld.de works with tablepress? 1.000 are just the beginning :)

Thx for your time, good work. I've taken a link to your plugin next to the involved dropdown menu.

    Hi,

    thanks for the question.

#1: Changing the values in that drop down menu is possible with a "Custom Command" for the DataTables JavaScript library. Please try pasting

    "aLengthMenu": [50, 150, 300]

into the "Custom Commands" textfield on the "Edit" screen of the table.

#2: Good question! There's no limit in theory, but you will notice that the "Edit" screen will be very slow or unresponsive with several thousand rows. So be warned. The best chance here might then be to maintain/edit the table in e.g. Excel and re-import the table from a CSV after a change. If that is not really viable, you'll most likely need to look into a custom PHP/mySQL solution.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Hello back, nice to hear you.

I noticed the point in #2 but I still don't trust in Excel etc. I will try it to the limit :)

Thanks for the really simple hint in #1.

    Greetings from Dresden, brandenfeld

    Hi,

now I've got nearly 400 simple entries and the performance in the backend is getting difficult, surely. (Not the handling!) Still I can stand it :)
But is there any possibility to hold it on this level by changing something inside WP or with/without any plugin? If not, I really should try Exc later this evening ...

PS: Should / Can I change the thread-title anywhere to add the keyword "performance" or maybe "max. numbers"?

    frieda (and PONS.eu)

    Edit:

I've created a blank PHP - File only with the table (just a simple file without WP - 74 kB) and this looks perfect on my desktop. So I have to decide if I should separate my collection and the planned WP-blog.

In the PHP - File I only have to copy and paste inside the code, but I dont have the functions of tablepress.

    Hi,

well, "holding" the performance at this level is not really possible. The problem is that the large number of text fields for the table cells will slow down every browser. The more cells there are, the more text fields there are, and thus the slower the browser. :-(
A different solution, e.g. with the table in that extra PHP file will therefore probably be inevitable, if the performance bothers you. Sorry :-(

    Regards,
    Tobias

P.S.: About the thread title: No, no need to change that.
