Hey, could someone please tell me whether or not i loose my posts, settings, theme,tracking codes if i get a wordpress.org domain. Will i have to submit my blog to search engines again?

Where is your blog currently? Will you be retaining the domain name? Bear in mind that wordpress.org just distributes, documents and supports the WordPress software. It does not provide hosting or domain names. You have to buy these yourself.

Posted 8 months ago #my blog is an http://myname.wordpress.com kind of blog. I want to retain the name only i want to have more control. From the admin section they say i can get a domain for $17

You cannot retain name.wordpress.com if you move away from wordpress.com. But you can have name.wordpress.com redirected to your new domain for a fee.

I thought all this is done by wordpress. I need to get a domain that will give me more control with loosing what i previously had in the wordpress.com blog

No - you carry out the export of the site's content yourself.
