• Hi
Well I am having problems changing themes, I d/l a theme I like http://themes.wordpress.net/ I installed and move the files to the correct folders wp-content/themes/example/

when I log into admin panel/presentation to select the new theme, nothing is showing the themes I Uploaded, still only shows the 2 themes that came installed with the script.

So I upload a new theme, agian in the correct folders, and still nothing is showing up and a slectable option in admin/presentation/themes or theme editor.

so what am I doing wrong?

    Dave

  • Might need to change file permissions. Developers say the wp-content folder and sub-folders can have permission 777.

just tried that, and tried different permissions, and still the other themes I have installed are not showing up as slectable options to change to, I even deleted the newly installed themes, and re-uploaded them, and triple checked permissions.

    any other suggestions people?

Make sure the themes are not in another folder within that folder.
Some themes when you extract them are within two folders deep. So when you open the theme folder you should first see all the theme files and not another folder.
If there is another folder there, upload that folder instead.

Nevermind, I figured out my error, everything is working fine now.

    Hi-
My theme uploaded okay(after much practice my end) but there is always this showing on my Sidebar:

WordPress database error: [Unknown column ‘cat_’ in ‘order clause’]
    SELECT * FROM wp_categories WHERE cat_ID > 0 AND link_count > 0 ORDER BY cat_ ASC

Can anyone help me with this? I am new here, doing my best….
