    Hi,
I am a newbie to WordPress and trying to learn by reading first steps with wordpress. I followed along up to the point where you can change themes quickly. The directions indicate there should be an activate button under the theme that I want, but I don't see it anywhere. The only chooses I have are the network enabled or disabled options. I have enabled which theme I want, but my theme does not change on my site. Am I missing something or doing something wrong. That make seem so simple, but the instructions are different from what I see within my admin area. Thanks for the help.

If you see "Network Enabled" you are using WordPress Multisite, and not a single install WordPress.

Scoot up to the top of the dashboard and click on "My Sites", in the drop down you will see "Network Admin" and then the names of your sites, if you hover on one of those you will see fly-out menu, and that contains an item called "Dashboard" - that will take you to the place you think you are.

If you don't need WordPress Multi-Site, rather install a single instance of it. Multi-site is a complex tool to learn on.

    Thanks Max,
After trial and error I did figure out how to change themes the way I thought I would be able to. I did re-install WordPress without the multi-site function. That will help follow training a little better. I do have quick question, that might off topic of themes, but is there way to eliminate any references to posts, or comments? I would like to create a regular website without the blogging aspects. Thanks again for the help.

WordPress offers two standard "types" of content, posts and pages.

If you are creating a static site, you would use pages for the static pages, and posts for the blog bits.
