Changing the WP-CONTENT

Hi all,

I was going to change the name of we-content folder when I did, everything gone wrong, as I change it back it’s back ok, the current website http://www.crown-it.co.uk
which my we-content are.
Can anybody give me some suggestion about how to change it without damaging the website?!

Why do you want to change it? it is referenced everywhere in files and the database so it will break if you change it.

changing it from the default and configure it for better security.thanks for your reply.

Not particularly any safer than leaving it be. The file path will still be visible in your source code. Also bad plugins forget people do this and may break, so be prepared for agony there.

But if you must, do it this way: http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Moving_wp-content

(BTW, you can find that by googling ‘WordPress move wp-content’ and it’s the first hit 😉 )

You can do it via a define() in your wp-config.php file.

Not all plugins and themes are well written and as cjc1867 pointed out that may break things.

Also? Security is in the code and not the path to the code. That doesn’t make anything more secure.

You can find out where you put by viewing the page source anyway so you are not achieving anything by doing it.

cjc1867, that’s true it will show up in source cod but I was curious to see if we can hide it.

You’re not hiding it, just to be clear, crownit. You’re moving it.

Hiding it would be making it so no one can find it. This is like … moving your front door to the side of your house.

@ipstnu, 🙂 I m not planning to put my front door anywhere, I was thinking to make it more anon on source code, appreciate your reply anyway.
