When I try to insert one of the images from my Media Gallery, I see the options to change between thumbnail, medium, large and full, however I cannot select any of the first three. Is there something in the settings that I have to enable in order for those options to work?

No - these settings should be available if the original image was larger that the dimensions set for thumbnail, medium & large images in Settings/Media. Have you checked the dimensions for the three smaller sizes?

Posted 2 years ago #yes, I set them at 300x400 for thumbnails, 500x500 for medium and 1024x1024 for large. The original image size is 3072x2034.

The image may simply be too large for WordPress to create the smaller version. Try uploading an image half that size and see what happens.
