[resolved] Changing the Site Upload Space Quota doesn't update the settings (8 posts)

    So I have 3 main sites on my Multisite install and a few friends sites. I have it set to subdomain so it doesn't mess with my permalinks. I wanted to limit my friends sites to 150Mb for disk space. I read how to do this in another support topic. I followed the directions and edited a field at the bottom of the Network Dashboard > Edit Site Settings. The field is labeled "Site Upload Space Quota" and has a numerical selector. So now that I have it set, I go to their site dashboard and look in the "Right Now" widget and notice it isn't showing site space. When I set the entire network to a limited space the "Right Now" widget give you space used, available, and a percentage. How do you get it to display those?
    - Thanks!

    That's correct. When UNCHECKED there is no limit :)

    You have to check the box, and then I would set the limit to what you want (150mb).

    For your other sites, IIRC you should go into Network Admin and edit the site. Under settings, look for "Blog Upload Space" and set that to blank for unlimited.

    So I need to set the site to have 150Mb under Network Admin > Network Settings and set the main sites to blank for unlimited on just that site?

    So I attempted this, I ticked and set to 150 under network settings "Site upload space." Then the counters showed up and thats what I wanted. However, I went to go edit the main sites to leave those fields blank to be unlimited and it did not make the main sites unlimited. They were set to 150Mb like the network default.
    What I wanted is the 3 main sites not to have any limits on space and the other sites to have a 150Mb of space.

    I offer the following:

    Set the network setting to something ridiculously large, approaching infinity. But still set the lower 150mb limit under the edit site by site settings.

    That doesn't really seem logical however.

    "Seems, I know not seems, ... it is."

    Here is the logic from ms-functions.php to show the relation between the network option vs the individual blog option, but the two are only compared if the space upload check is ticked in the network setting page in the first place:

    $quota = get_space_allowed();

    function get_space_allowed() {
    	$space_allowed = get_option( 'blog_upload_space' );

    	if ( ! is_numeric( $space_allowed ) )
    		$space_allowed = get_site_option( 'blog_upload_space' );

    	if ( empty( $space_allowed ) || ! is_numeric( $space_allowed ) )
    		$space_allowed = 50;

    	return $space_allowed;
    }

    I just sorta gave up on setting this to be like that. They should redo that so you can set unlimited for some and limited for others.
