• Anyone know whether it’s possible to change the name of the Text 1 widget to a more descriptive custom name. Or is that not possible because those are dynamically generated?

Also, if someone can show me which line of code to remove from widgets.php so that the RSS channel title will not show up when using the RSS widget, that’d be swell.

  • 1) When you configure text 1 just type in the new title.

    2) You want it blank?

    1. Actually, I wanted Text 1 in the widget control panel to be different, not on the blog site itself.

    2. I just don’t want to show the channel title on my blogs because the feeds I’m pulling in have funky, non-descriptive channel titles.

The title that you enter in the widget config is fine. But I’m also getting the channel title displayed above that.

    1) Yeah, that would require changing widgets.php. Look for ‘function widget_text_control’, but if you don’t know what you’re doing you will likely break it.

2)The RSS widget has 2 fields: Enter the RSS feed URL here: and Give the feed a title (optional):

    2. Yes, I can change the display of the widget title. But I still get the channel title displayed on my blog above that.

    1. Those are dynamically generated. Changing it would not be simple.

    2. The channel title is only displayed if you don’t put your own title in. At least, that’s what it’s supposed to do. Do you have an example where it’s doing something different? What’s your webpage URL?

You say it would not be simple, but does anyone know how to change those dynamically generated titles? (aka. Text1, Text2, Text3)

I’d like them to be renamed to whatever is in the “title” field. How would I go about doing this?

    Anyone?
