Changing site URL

    Having checked WordPress info and the various forum comments I am clear that to change my URL I have to change the Address and Site Address in Settings and (probably) also edit wp-config.php. What I need to confirm is that, having done all that, my log in and password used with the old URL will be the same when I open with my new URL and /wp-login.php?
