Hi, I am trying to change the permalinks on existing/all future posts, and I was able to do everything including creating the .htaccess file and pasting the command, but the permalinks do not work? When I click on a link, it says it doesn't exist. Any thoughts? I know I might have to do something with the "mod_rewrite" but I am totally lost there, despite reading this - http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It might be better if you made the .htaccess file writable so that WordPress can make the changes for you. You can always change the permissions back once everything is working properly again.
