• First of all I have read all about permalinks and that does not help. Permalinks change posts and have a small but unhelpful effect on pages.

URLs for pages are generated based on the page heirarchy. Lets use mine for an example. http://www.4wehelp.com/cincinnati-movers/full-service-moves/

    The http://www.4wehelp.com is the domain
    The cincinnati-movers is the parent
The full-service-moves is the actual page

I want to remove the parent page from the URL like this
    4wehelp.com full-service-moves

Changing the permalink settings effect the final part but have no effect on the trail that leads to that (the /cincinnati-movers/ part)

Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • From your description, it sounds like full-service-moves is a “child page” of cincinnati-movers.

Try removing the parent page through WP-admin –> WordPress Pages –> Full Service Moves.
