• I can’t seem to figure out how to remove the one column – no sidebar option. I have a short post that says “continue reading…” and when you click on that, the sidebars show up. I would like the sidebars there all the time.

    any help would be appreciated.

  • Link? What theme are you using?

Unfortunately the Distinction theme does not have an index page with a sidebar for your frontpage. It was designed to be a unique tumblr style blog with footer widgets and sidebars for pages and single posts.

I may consider adding that as a theme option but it won’t be for a little while as I’, tied up with other projects at the moment. My apologies.

I thought the “no sidebar” was an option. Is there now way to change it to the regular template?

You can have a static page for your home page. Create a page and choose the page template you would like for it. Then under settings > reading choose a the static frontpage option and choose your newly created page from the dropdown.

This will give you a static front page complete with sidebar for your front page but it will not provide a listing of posts like you would expect from a general blog theme.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried that and it seems to fix the problem, but now I can’t post. I would like to be able to add post daily and have them run down the front page. I guess that doesn’t work with a Static Page?

Just so I am clear, there is no option for one column, sidebar displayed on the main page? is the default template the one, short column with sidebars hidden? Is there no way to change that?

    Thanks for the help

Correct. That is not currently an option. The theme was designed to be used like this: http://themes.wpninjas.net/distinction/

It can be modified like any other theme but this was my intent in creating it. Like I said previously, I may be able to add that option in a future version but not sure when I will be able to get to it.

okay, thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, thats not what we are looking for. We love the look and feel of the theme, just not the layout. if you decided to change it in the future, let me know.
    Thanks
