Support » Fixing WordPress » Changing Hosts

  • My blog is currently hosted by Yahoo! but has been painfully slow for months. Their engineers have given up trying to figure out why. I am trying to transfer the blog to GoDaddy but they don’t offer support to copy the database over. I see the import/export functions in phpmyadmin but cant figure out how to do it. The current blog is iepolitics.com.

  • Export two ways:

    1. XML
Tools > Export > All and save to computer. Then in your new WP install in GoDaddy, Tools > Import > WordPress WXR – don’t forget to click on “include attachments” in next panel to include the images/media from your posts/pages in old WP install. Be aware though, even if this is easier to do, you will lose settings in plugins from your old install as well as placement of widgets in old install.

    2. SQL file from Database
