I would like to change themes.
Can I simply “change the theme” and all that I have currently will ‘adapt’ to the new theme?
I’m thinking, “it can’t be THAT easy”. There must be a ‘caveats’ in here somewhere, yes?

Well, you have another reason to upgrade to 2.9.2 besides all of the other good reasons: theme preview. You can try out the theme before you activate it on your site.

The caveat is that the new theme may not keep your old widget placement or settings. If that does happen, you’ll need to re-arrange your new theme’s widget layout and content.

It really depends on what you have currently. If any of the plugins you use clash with the theme you implement, then you’ll have problems. Same goes with if there is anything in your current theme that is hard-coded into it (ie. not in there via a widget), then you won’t have it when you switch theme.

But that said, most of the time I’ve found it pretty safe to switch themes.
