   In the email sent after registration the from field says wordpress@mydomain.com instead of my email.

   I found a solution at the bottom of THIS POST

   Is there a better solution to this? I really dont want to change this every time I update. I have the correct email set admin-settings-general

   I seen that plugin, unfortunately it says Compatible up to: 2.7, im using 2.8. Do u know if either of these solutions work with 2.8?

   I'd try it--a lot of plugins work at 2.8.4 even though they say compatible to a lower version.
