2 days ago my .com domain name expired (don't ask, long story and ex-partner had control of the domain, didn't notify me, etc...) and now I need to switch everything over to the .net domain. My problem is that I cannot even access the admin panel since the domain name it was on is expired and is now just showing a generic splash screen.
What site files that reference the old .com domain do I need to alter in Dreamweaver so I can at least go view my site/admin panel and right my ship so to speak. Many urgent thanks to any and all that can help me. Happy New Year!

Do you have access to FTP of your domain. Ask your host to provide the backup of MySQL database and the root folder of your domain. You will atleast need the follwing two backups:
1) MySQL database- Posts and all the details of your blog are saved here.
2) wp-contents/uploads folder- Your images, videos, attachments etc are stored here.

Yes I have complete access to my FTP and all the files therein. I just don't know which to alter.
ok, great!! So just restore the backup of MySQL database to the .net domain. Then replace the uploads folder with the backed up folder of previous domain.
The blog will be moved..

I am a total novice at this stuff. My friend designed the site for me so i am little unsure...
I am uploading all the files from the .com to the .net FTP now. I am assuming that will restore the MySQL database
"Then replace the uploads folder with the backed up folder of previous domain."
wouldn't this already be the case since I am copying EVERYTHING from the .com FTP?
Also won't I have to go through the site and replace all instances of .com with the .net?
Sorry for so many questions, but I am a bit new at this. Thanks again for all your help!
No, this will probably make things more complicated.. Because the permalink settings in the new setup may not work then. But I am not sure, so you can try this out.. it may work for you..

hmmm, like I said above I am not that knowledgeable about this stuff. If I sent you a screen shot of my FTP folder would you know what I should/shouldn't upload. The problem with the site is that is highly specialized with bulletin boards, reservation systems, integrated calendars, etc...
you can mail me at ryan_accuwebhosting@yahoo.com.. I will have a check and will try to help you...
