Changing categories in permalinks (3 posts)

My permalinks are set to : /%category%/%postname%/

Trouble is, I'd like to rename and reorganize my categories. What will happen to the urls of my previous posts?

For example, if a highly-used category for my site is Parenting with Zing! If I change the category to "mindful parenting" instead, what will happen?

Is there an easy way to avoid trouble or confusion by using the category slug? I can't find any info about this in the forums. Please help.

    Thanks.

All your links should change dynamically. For example if you have a category called general and then a sub category called something and you write a post called hello then the slug would be:

    http://yourdomain.com/general/something/hello

If you decided to rename your general category to sport then WordPress will automatically change the permalink/slug of all posts so the example above would change to:

    http://yourdomain.com/sport/something/hello

Hope this helps - sorry if I have misunderstood.

    O.K. Just to verify-
If I change my post called Grateful for Gun Play in the child perspective category:

    http://www.childperspective.com/child-perspective/grateful-for-gun-play/

    to the category discipline, reading:

    http://www.childperspective.com/discipline/grateful-for-gun-play

then WordPress will automatically change the permalink, so that all links to the first - http://www.childperspective.com/child-perspective/grateful-for-gun-play/
would actually lead to the right place, the new category:
    http://www.childperspective.com/discipline/grateful-for-gun-play.

Wish I had a better way to explain this, but am just verifying that we are essentially saying the same thing.
