It seems that I have tried just about everything to change the side margin background to a picture and can't get it to work. Does anyone know if this can be done in the Vigilance Theme? If so, help please...

There are thousands of WordPress themes - which means that many people won't be familiar with your particular theme. So a link to your site might help.
