I am editing a site that has a splash page that was put in place by a previous designer. It is not a created page, and I can't seem to find out how they created a static splash page with an enter button...

    Thank you for your help!

Looks like they placed an index.html or index.php page in the domain's root folder with the WordPress installed in the site sub-folder.

I am new to wordpress... When editing the index.php template to remove the splash page, what tag should I delete? Or is there an easier way to do it?

    I really appreciate it!

The index.php template file in the theme doesn't have a tag relating to the splash page. Just try renaming the index.html file in the root domain folder.

Sorry, but I seem to be confused. When I open the template for the index.php theme how do I rename the index file?

Where do I edit the root domain folder? In the template editor?

No. That file has nothing to do with WordPress. You'll need to use FTP.
