Changing a domain name in multisite (4 posts)

I have a static HTML site at usaweekend.com/partners. I'm moving that site onto WP and the address will be partners.usaweekend.com. In order to build the site and actually see it, since I need to keep the static site live in the interim, I built the site on test.usaweekend.com. Now, I need to switch out the sites. Here are my questions:

    1. Can I just change the site domain of "test" to "partners" and change the DNS settings of the current site to the new one?

    2. Will changing the domain on "test" change my links within the site from "test" to "partners" or do I have to go back in and manually change every link in there including image and file locations?

    3. If the links have to be be changed manually, any suggestions on a plugin or some other option to make that quicker?

  2. Ouch.

You can rename the /test/ folder to /partners/ (it's a normal subdomain, so that's easy enough) but you'll need the search and replace script in the above link to look for test.usaweekend and change it to partners.usaweekend.

Don't search for just test, as that's too short (and common) a string.

I'm just glad there is a script to be honest. I was terrified I was going to have to do this the really old fashioned way.

Thanks so much for the link. I'll give this a try.

  4. That script is my new best friend, honestly ;)
