When I edit anything - Pages, Widgets, Settings... - the changes won't save. The wheel keeps spinning and eventually the connection resets itself. I made some edits to my header the other day though I think I've saved changes since then. What could cause this? What need I reset to be able to make edits again? Please advise...

Do you have any plugins installed? Try disabling them one-by-one to try and isolate the issue.

sad.. that didn't work... i've deleted all my plugins manually off my server because i couldn't delete/save changes from the dashboard, and the wheel-spinning not-saving problem persists. now i doubt i can figure out how to reinstate the ones that were in use... but much thanks for any suggestion. anything else i should try?
