   I've got a local installation (localhost:8889) and was attempting to move the site to a web host, so changed the site field in the settings panel in the admin interface, which stopped wordpress functioning locally. it also didn't work on the webhost, and now with no backups I need some help please :)

   any help with subsequently getting it from local machine to online would also be very much appreciated, as I'm finding it difficult to follow the instructions very well on the site.

   Moving WordPress has info on moving from one host to another.
