• I have seen a few similar problems but not with such a specific question. I changed themes from inove to devart and most of the widgets from the south, east and west sidebars from the old theme ended up in the inactive widgets section. However I had a flag counter which had some specific code and it has vanished.

I know it must still reside somewhere in the word press installation, question is where should I be looking?

    Regards

    Conrad

  • Widgets are usually theme specific. You’d need to re-activate your old them to access the previous widgets.

I have a similar issue: when I change themes, all widgets disappear from the sidebar. I can add them back of course. But if I switch back to the original theme the widgets are stripped from that also.

Resolved.. there was a conflict between my two themes. They had sidebars in different places, that confused WordPress. So I deleted twentyten. My other themes consist of a parent and children, the sidebar structure is identical, and WordPress doesn’t get confused.
