changed mysql in my.cnf, wordpress defaults to installation page

    i change my my.cnf configuration in order to save some memory onm y lowendvps, but after i do that wordpress goes to the installation page.
    Other mysql dependend sites are still running normal, and phpmyadmin also shows the correct databases

    what am i doing wrong?
