it appears that hostican completely changed the doman to the new domain and now I can't get to my wordpress page? I am probably wording this all wrong. Should I be making all of the changes in the cpanel page?
I am not technical so I am very frustrated right now.
Thanks for any help.
your isp will give you guidance along with this forum. especially with regard to cpanel. the isp may not be familiar with wp, nor do they have to be. but they will help you configure things on your server to accommodate wp
I'm not sure if I understand what has happened. If you have changed hosting providers and do not have a backup then your old site might be gone now.
Otherwise I think your site should still be there. You may just have to make a few changes to your database as described in the moving wordpress article linked above.
I didn't change my host, just my domain name.
was: ritchmillerart.com
now: rmillerwildlifegallery.com
step 1. Create the new location using one of these two options:
1. If you will be moving your WordPress core files to a new directory, create the new directory. Where do I create this directory? do I do this in the cpanel?
2. Login to your blog. when i log in it goes to a hostican page?
Thanks for your help.
following up on mrmist and your comments, first question. can you see your file tree/your site via cpanel?
second one. do you have an ftp client that you have used to see your files, upload/delete/move files?
first question. yes.
there is a directory called WWW that has a lot of files (php) and a directory called ritchmillerart.com that has a cgi-bin, 404 shtml, favicon.txt and a robots.txt
any uploads are done in the cpanel
