My third party web host recently installed wordpress on a subdirectory (xyz.com/wordpress). I later changed my mind and manually moved the files to the root directory so that the blog would show up on my site's home page.
Unfortunately, I didn't do a good job. Xyz.com does show the blog, but the style and formatting is off. And all of the web addresses associated with the hyper links on my site reference some variant of xyz.com/wordpress... Since the /wordpress subdirectory no longer exists, none of the links work.
If you can login, fix your Settings->General so that both your Blog address and WordPress address say http://xyz.com.
If you can't login use consider using phpMyAdmin to make sure your wp_options table has the correct values in siteurl and home.
siteurl is your WordPress address (URL) and home is your Blog Address (URL).
And, some other info:
http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/
Then install the http://www.google.com/search?q=wordpress+plugin+search+and+replace plugin to search and replace xyz.com/wordpress with xyx.com.
Then visit Administration > Settings > Permalinks and update your Permalinks.
