• I’d appreciate some help with a little problem I’m having, if someone doesn’t mind.
I followed the instructions to give WP it’s own directory and now the blog page has the home page address. I wanted the WP blog to have the address: www.(my site)/journal. But instead it is at www.(my site). The former homepage is now www.(my site)/index.html.
I had moved the index.php file into the root directory as instructed and changed the line in it to this: require(‘./wordpress/wp-blog-header.php’); The instructions called for moving the .htaccess files into the root directory, also, but I didn’t find any.
    Any advice?

    Thank you

  • So you don’t want WordPress at mydomain.com, correct.

Then delete the index.php file in your blog root folder (the same folder that holds the journal folder.

Login at mydomain.com/journal/wp-login.php and change your Blog Address (URL) to mydomain.com/journal. If necessary read http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/ to use phpMyAdmin to fix that value.

Update your permalinks via Settings Permalinks.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve screwed it up pretty bad now and I was wondering if there’s a support phone number or some other resource.
I changed the functions.php file for the active them according to these instructions. Then I changed them back, moved the .index file back to the /wordpress directory where it was to begin with and now the page loads with no style and no way to login or do much of anything.
If you have a second to look at it it’s at http://www.robertgoodier.com. Any help is appreciated or if you know of a number I can call or a live chat support that would be helpful.

    Thank you

email sent to address you have on your site.
