Change WPMU to WP (4 posts)

I am currently running sites with WPMU and am looking to change to WP, but wondered how easy this would be?

I also have Simple Forum running on the sites and wondered whether this is likely to cause any problems, as ideally I would like to take the current settings and posting across as well.

Any help or ideas would be very gratefully received.

    Many thanks

    Gus

I'm not sure how hard it is to change over. I know about 4 months ago I switched my WP site to WPMU, then back again in a matter of 2 days. I totally forget the steps I took, but I know I followed instructions I found on one of the WP docs areas. (And kept multiple, meticulous backups of everything, database, and all files))

Also, unless you are in a hurry....the WP and WPMU code bases are merging with the release of WP 3.0....which isn't going to be that far off.....that should make it relatively painless!

Many thanks for the reply RVoodoo - think I may wait for WP 3

  4. It depends.

Do you have members blogs, or more blogs than just the main one? If so, you need to move the posts from the member blogs all into the main blog. Look under Tools -> Export. ;)

In the current trunk of WP, it does have some things in there regarding the merge. It;s not ready for a productions site, just testings, but you will be able to switch off the multiple blogs easily. Gotta migrate the content of those blogs on your own tho.
